The other day I saw someone’s Facebook post, “I’ve really screwed up my life.” The question then becomes are you using that epiphany as a jumping off point to go all out and adjust course or as an excuse to wallow around in your own crapulence?
I’ve had an unusually large amount (in my mind at least) of hurdles to get over in my years ranging from abuse to hard-core poverty. But I like to think of them as opportunities to conquer and rise to the challenge, as well as opportunities which create empathy to help others traverse the path.
Having undesirable experiences are excellent training opportunities that can actually give you an edge. When you exercise your muscles they strengthen. When you exercise your emotions, control of them and your mind, they strengthen. Just like training for a run, the harder the work the greater the reward.
